Since July 2013, AHF has collaborated with governmental and non-governmental organizations to expand HIV testing and treatment for populations at greatest risk, supporting timely treatment initiation through a service linkage model that connects individuals to health facilities offering antiretroviral therapy (ART).

Over the years, AHF Perú has conducted more than 650,000 HIV tests, diagnosing and linking over 22,000 people to care. This represents approximately 20% of all people living with HIV currently receiving treatment nationwide.

AHF Perú’s HIV response includes:

• Supporting community organizations with training in HIV testing and prevention, and providing essential supplies so they can screen and diagnose individuals within their own communities.
  
  
• Expanding access to HIV testing for populations in remote areas through targeted interventions, mobile units, and strategic partnerships with local governments, community-based organizations, state institutions, and the private sector.
  
  
• Facilitating linkage to healthcare services by guiding and supporting people living with HIV to initiate treatment.
  
  
• Contributing to quality care through agreements with the Ministry of Health, Regional Governments, and major hospitals in Piura, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Lima, Ica, Tacna, Cusco, Ucayali, and Loreto.

Additionally, AHF Peru advocates for the rights of people living with HIV, key populations, and those in vulnerable situations by promoting access to healthcare and working to eliminate stigma and discrimination.
