AHF Dominican Republic, based in Santo Domingo, initiated its formal collaboration in 2013 with the Center for Promotion and Human Solidarity (CEPROSH), a non-governmental organization in Puerto Plata, to provide medical care to over 1,200 patients. Later, AHF joined the Ministry of Prisons of the Federal Government in Santo Domingo to implement a rapid testing program and provide care at La Victoria prison.
AHF Dominican Republic provides free, high-quality HIV/STI medical services, including sexual health counseling, rapid tests for HIV, HCV, HBV, and syphilis, as well as treatment. Since its inception, AHF has partnered with four additional clinics, three of which are strategically located in provinces designated as impoverished. These clinics serve over 6,000 patients, offering vital care to both migrants and the local population affected by HIV.
In collaboration with NGOs and the Ministry of Health, AHF ensures that patients at these clinics receive comprehensive, high-quality HIV care. The organization supports the Dominican Republic’s alignment with the global HIV strategy, aiming to end the AIDS epidemic by 2030 through strategic partnerships with government, NGOs, and civil society.
Over the years, AHF has distributed more than 2 million free condoms across the country and conducts over 17,000 rapid HIV tests annually, with over 90% of newly diagnosed individuals successfully linked to care.
