Cambodia

In 2005, AHF Cambodia founded its first program with the Ministry of Health and gradually expanded services with other healthcare agencies, including registering with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Royal Government of Cambodia.

Today, the program works collaboratively with the Ministry of Health through the National Centre for HIV/AIDS, Dermatology and STIs (NCHADS), Provincial Health Departments (PHDs), the Ministry of Defense through Preah Ket Mealea Hospital, and many local NGOs, groups, and networks supporting people living with HIV (PLHIV).

AHF Cambodia supports 42 HIV treatment sites throughout 71 HIV treatment facilities in 19 provinces nationwide. These sites provide free ARVs, OI treatment, and care to patients. Transportation allowances are sometimes provided to support patients in need. AHF Cambodia also provides free HIV testing and condoms at ART clinic sites and within communities.

In May 2017, AHF Cambodia launched a mobile testing van dedicated to reaching those living in remote areas, primarily around Cambodia's border where access to these services is challenging. The van provides HIV testing and treatment services to the most at-risk groups and their partners and families.

Through different supported programs, AHF Cambodia aims to improve treatment and care for HIV/AIDS patients at government hospitals, promote community HIV testing and the use of condoms, and prevent HIV, especially among high-risk populations.

Cambodia is one of the few countries in the world that has been successful in reversing its HIV epidemic and achieved near-universal access to HIV/AIDS treatment. Such success is only possible with contributions and joint efforts from different stakeholders. In 2010, the Cambodian government received a United Nations Millennium Development Goal award to recognize its success.
