The Nairobi health department recently recognized AHF Kenya’s Parklands facility with two county-wide awards for Best Performer in Infection Prevention & Control and Best Level II NGO Dispensary (2nd Runner-up)! All teams were assessed based on the Kenya Quality Model for Health framework, which guides how quality improvement initiatives are implemented.

“Most of the AHF Kenya team’s sites have ongoing quality improvement projects – so this is an area we take seriously to ensure the best possible treatment outcomes,” said AHF Kenya Country Program Director Dr. Samuel Kinyanjui. “These recognitions are evidence that our investments are paying off in our pursuit to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.”

Dr. Eunice Karanja, AHF’s Regional Medical Manager for Nairobi, added, “Infection control is critical to ensuring quality services and protecting both staff and clients. I’m happy that our interventions as a clinic have taken us to this level of recognition.”

AHF has been working in the country since 2007. Since 2010, AHF Kenya has tested more than 2.6 million people for HIV and distributed over 13 million condoms through local outreach and safer sex initiatives.
