Condoms Strut the Catwalk in China

In China, Global Featured by Fiona Ip

A “Safer Sex”-themed costume catwalk was a big hit recently on Chinese Valentine’s Day, where participants strutted their style with AHF LOVE-branded condom props at a local shopping mall.

The event, which also featured live music and dancing, aimed to normalize condoms and HIV testing to the public and promote safer sex practices.

“I like the idea of promoting HIV/AIDS prevention on Chinese Valentine’s Day, with traditional fans and umbrellas,” said one participant. “It made me less worried and encouraged me to take an HIV test, which I was a bit hesitant of.”

Advocates also tested over 200 people for HIV at the event, which was live-streamed to over 1,500 people.
