Looking For HIV Testing in Greece? Find HIV Center
Since 2012, AHF has been the main funder and most significant partner of the Greek Association of People Living with HIV (Positive Voice), supporting the establishment and ongoing operation of the Checkpoint Prevention and sexual health centers in Greece.
AHF and Positive Voice develop activities aimed at defending the rights of people living with HIV, addressing the spread of HIV/AIDS, and mitigating its social and economic impact in Greece. They also continue to promote prevention, eliminate stigma, and provide testing to high-risk populations.
The Checkpoint centers opened in Athens in 2012 and Thessaloniki in 2014, providing bright, welcoming spaces for STI testing. Since then, they have conducted over 220,000 tests for HIV, hepatitis B and C, and syphilis.
In 2022, Positive Voice launched a new testing center, Ref Checkpoint, specifically targeting migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. The center offers free and rapid HIV testing, linkage to care, and sexual health counseling in Arabic, Farsi, Dari, Urdu, Pashto, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, English, and Greek. Ref Checkpoint was awarded with the European Citizen Prize by the European Parliament in 2023.
