United States

  • Florida: Multi-award-winning global star and philanthropist Ricky Martin will perform a full-length World AIDS Day concert at the Watsco Center at the University of Miami (UM). The event also will feature a performance by renowned DJ and rapper DJ Spinderella, and the AHF Lifetime Achievement award will be presented to Dr. Julio Frenk, UM’s outgoing president and chancellor-designate for UCLA.

Africa

  • Eswatini: Tertiary students in Manzini will engage in safe sex education and STI prevention through Q&A, edutainment, and awareness activities led by AHF and the Ministry of Health.
  • Ethiopia: Collaborative events with UN agencies and the Ministry of Health include speeches, HIV testing, cultural performances, and community awareness campaigns.
  • Kenya: Focus on public education, addressing high HIV prevalence in counties like Nairobi and Migori, and barriers to youth-friendly prevention and treatment services.
  • Lesotho: Community-led march and activities promoting HIV treatment adherence and prevention through traditional dances and interactive sketches.
  • Malawi: Community-driven awareness campaigns in Chinsapo highlight HIV education, prevention, and reducing stigma.
  • Mozambique: Health fairs, radio debates, and HIV testing services will replace the usual marches due to post-election violence, focusing on prevention and stigma reduction in rural and urban areas.
  • Nigeria: A road walk in Uyo will culminate in HIV testing and condom distribution, alongside activities like radio programs and youth discussions across seven states.
  • Rwanda: A seven-day campaign in Nyanza District emphasizes youth leadership, HIV testing, and stigma reduction through media, workshops, and community outreach.
  • Sierra Leone: Activities in Freetown include media engagement, youth fun fairs, and community sensitization to promote prevention and safe practices.
  • South Africa: Eastern Cape focuses on SRHR education and GBV challenges through marches and dialogues; KwaZulu-Natal incorporates testimonies and a candlelight ceremony to combat stigma.
  • Zambia: Central Province targets rising STI rates, teenage pregnancies, and GBV through essay competitions, debates, and panel discussions.
  • Uganda: Events with partners will raise awareness with marches, youth testimonies, and speeches by key figures, supported by flash mobs and social media in Kampala and Soroti.
  • Zimbabwe: Media awards for health journalists will be held alongside provincial WAD events to strengthen stakeholder buy-in in new AHF-supported areas.

  • Cambodia: Online and offline activities, including HIV testing at the Water Festival and a WAD concert.
  • China: HIV awareness art exhibition in Beijing celebrating resilience and reducing stigma.
  • India: Rallies, awareness drives, street plays, and STI/HIV testing events across Goa, New Delhi, Mumbai, Dharuhera, and Bareilly focus on HIV education, testing, and stigma reduction.
  • Indonesia: WAD ceremony in Bali with cultural performances, sports, and mass movement activities.
  • Laos: Booth exhibition with HIV testing, condom distribution, and traditional dancing in Luang Prabang.
  • Myanmar: Indoor health talks, online education, and targeted HIV testing amidst a challenging political situation.
  • Nepal: Rally, marathon, media interactions, and school health programs to spread HIV awareness.
  • Philippines: Grassroots mobilization for stigma reduction and strengthening treatment access.
  • Thailand: Youth-targeted HIV awareness event in Bangkok featuring health education and celebrity participation.
