The Cleveland Pride Festival was a proud declaration of AHF’s newest partnership with the AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland (ATGC). The sister organizations have joined forces to reduce the rate of HIV and AIDS in Ohio, a state that the CDC ranked as the 14th highest in the nation for cumulative reported AIDS cases in 2008, when 17,129 AIDS cases were reported there.
Then, in Columbus, AHF marked National HIV Testing Day on June 26 with the nationwide touring condom distribution initiative Condom Nation before appearing in the city’s Pride Festival the following weekend. AHF’s Columbus Pride appearance focused on the upcoming opening of an Out of the Closet Thrift Store in the city, where 96 cents of every dollar spent on unique vintage goods funds HIV/AIDS treatment and testing worldwide.
