JACKSONVILLE (June 7, 2012)¾ AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), the nation’s largest HIV/AIDS organization, is pleased to announce that effective Monday, June 11th, it’s respected Jacksonville (FL) AHF Magic Johnson Healthcare Center will move from its current location on Park Street in Jacksonville’s Riverside District to a new state-of-the-art facility on the campus of St. Vincent’s Medical Center approximately one-half mile away. AHF medical providers will start seeing patients Monday, June 11th at the new site, located at St. Vincent’s (AHF Magic Johnson Healthcare Center, 2 Shircliff Way, Suite 900, Depaul Building, Jacksonville, Florida 32204   tel: +1.904.381.9651, Hours: M-F 8:30am to 5:30pm, closed 12-1pm).

I’m heartened that AIDS Healthcare Foundation joined forces with our community over ten years ago to provide much-needed direct patient care and services for people living with HIV/AIDS here in the Jacksonville area,” said Dr. Robert Catalla, who has served as AHF’s Medical Director and principal provider at the center since it first opened and will continue on at the new site. “This new space is located in a multi-disciplinary building within the hospital campus, improving access to other specialties, while observing patient confidentiality. The space is 5,000 square feet of newly-renovated clinical and pharmacy space which includes seven exam rooms plus a triage/procedure room, a laboratory and case management office and with garage parking—with complimentary parking for clinic patients and pharmacy clients. Over the past decade, our patients have benefitted greatly from improved access to such life-saving care, and I believe we will now be able to improve and expand on our mission at the St. Vincent’s site.”

“I am excited to announce the move of our Jacksonville facility to this new site at St. Vincent’s,” said Michael Weinstein, AHF President. “In this new location, this health care center should continue to offer a tremendous opportunity to provide quality HIV/AIDS care and significant outreach to some underserved populations throughout Northeast Florida.”

For the past decade, the AHF’s Magic Johnson clinic has been serving the greater Jacksonville area (Duval County) and surrounding counties including: St. John’s, Baker, Nassau and Clay in Northeast Florida. The initial AHF/Magic Johnson Jacksonville Healthcare Center first opened to patients in August 2001. An AHF Pharmacy opened at the site in (200_?) Both the clinic and the AHF Pharmacy will relocate to the new St. Vincent’s site. The clinic is one of six current AHF treatment sites named in honor of HIV positive basketball legend Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson, Jr.—FL: Jacksonville & North Miami; CA: Oakland, San Francisco & the West Adams District in Los Angeles; GA: Lithonia. In addition, AHF/Magic Johnson clinics are expected to open later this year in Brooklyn, NY and Ft. Worth, TX.

As at all of our health care centers, this AHF Magic Johnson Healthcare Center in Jacksonville will provide care and services regardless of a patient’s ability to pay,” said Michael Kahane, AHF Bureau Chief, Southern Region. “In addition, patients as well as the general public can easily access a full range of pharmacy services via the adjacent AHF Pharmacy at the facility.”

AHF’s Healthcare Centers provide state-of-the-art out-patient medical services to maximize the health and well-being of persons living at all stages of HIV disease regardless of a patient’s ability to pay.
