HIV/AIDS is still a crisis. Women are under attack in South Africa. The country has the highest rape statistics in the world and only a 7% conviction rate, but South African women are fighting back.

Over 3,000 survivors of sexual assault—along with their family members and allies—recently marched in silent protests across Cape Town, Durban and Grahamstown demanding respect, vital health services, HIV prevention and change to the pervasive culture of rape.

The protests were co-organized by AHF and its partners. South Africa is home to AHF’s first clinic outside the US (established in 2002) where it currently serves 125,096 clients countrywide.
