Looking For HIV Testing in Estonia? Find HIV Center
AHF has operated in Estonia with help from the Estonian Network of People Living with HIV (EHPV) since early 2009. Through the partnership, people living in areas most affected by the epidemic are able to receive rapid HIV testing, free condoms, and referrals to healthcare providers if they test positive.

In 2013, AHF and EHPV opened an HIV treatment clinic at the epicenter of the epidemic, Narva; a city severely impacted by the confluences of socioeconomic depression and widespread drug use. The clinic was the first AHF clinic in the EU and is also a meeting site for support groups for people living with HIV.

In recent years, Estonia has made significant progress in its national HIV response. The prevalence of HIV has stabilized, but new cases continue to be reported each year. Today, most new HIV cases are registered in Harju County—especially in the capital city, Tallinn—followed by Ida-Viru County. This shift highlights the evolving nature of the epidemic and the need to maintain broad access to prevention and testing services.

To address this, AHF Estonia expanded its services in late 2024 by launching regular HIV testing sites in Tallinn. These community-based testing points offer free and confidential HIV testing, as well as optional syphilis and hepatitis B/C screening. Free condom distribution and awareness campaigns accompany the testing services.

Access to antiretroviral therapy (ARV) is fully supported by the Estonian government, with treatment available to all people living with HIV through the national healthcare system.

While Estonia has sufficient coverage for testing and treatment, social stigma and a lack of awareness continue to hinder early diagnosis. AHF Estonia remains committed to community outreach, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring that prevention tools—including condoms, education, and testing—are available and accessible to all.
