LOS ANGELES, CA (April 25, 2017) – AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s (AHF) Know Your Status Tour (KYST) kicked into high gear at Clark Atlanta University’s last Thursday, where over 1,000 Atlanta University Center students packed the Juanita Powell Baranco Multi Purpose Room to capacity.  Created by AHF in 2016 to help spread awareness to HBCU students about the importance of STD prevention, treatment and safer sex,  the Atlanta event featured notable panelists Including Amber Rose, actor Don Benjamin, E! News’ Sibley Scoles, Nina Parker, sex expert Shannon Boodram, and Calvin Broadus.  All of the panelists engaged the students as they answered tough questions and shared personal stories about their experiences with dating and relationships. In response, many students took to the audience microphone to ask the panel questions and disclose some of their concerns and worries around sex.

During the discussion, representatives for the Atlanta City Council and the Board of Commissioners of Fulton County presented KYST founder Chris Grace with a set of proclamations declaring April 20th as “AHF Know Your Status Tour Day” in the City of Atlanta and Fulton County.  These proclamations come on the heels of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently releasing statistics showing that Georgia is among the “most sexually diseased” states in the country and that 12 million young people between 18-24 years contract and STI each year nationwide.  The CDC also reported that in 2014, Fulton, Dekalb, and Cobb and Gwinnett countries — which cover Metro Atlanta — rank among the highest in the nation for cases of chlamydia and gonorrhea.

Following an hour-long panel discussion moderated by social media strategist Karen Civil, students rushed to the stage once they heard the voice of “Think It’s A Game” recording artist YFN Lucci. The “Keys To The Streets” billboard charting artist ignited a flame of excitement while performing for the standing-room only crowd.

The next stop on the Know Your Status Tour will be, TEXAS SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY on April 26, 2017.
