Country Overview:

While there are an estimated 32,735 PLHIV in Nepal, only 18,130 are estimated as Living PLHIV (December 2016) and 13,069 PLHIV are enrolled in ART in Nepal (NCASC, December 2016). Less than half (i.e. 40%) of the estimated PLHIV receive treatment. Thus far, AHF has reached 5,837 patients by April 30, 2017. ART is provided by the government and distributed at AHF collaborative centers, all at no cost. In addition to ART, AHF centers offer recording, reporting and counseling services and are able to diagnose and treat other illnesses. Treatment adherence and follow-up actions by mobilizing PLHIV clients, peer educators and also promoting linkage and support services by mobilizing the resources and services provided by other agencies or PLHIV networks working in HIV and AIDS.

HIV/AIDS Information:

While there are an estimated 39,249 PLHIV in Nepal, only 25,839 are registered as positive. Of those registered positive, less than half receive treatment. Thus far, AHF has reached 5,596 patients by February 10, 2017. ART is provided by the government and distributed at AHF collaborative centers, all at no cost. In addition to ART, AHF centers offer recording, reporting and counseling services and are able to diagnose and treat other illnesses. Treatment adherence and follow-up actions by mobilizing PLHIV clients, peer educators and also promoting linkage and support services by mobilizing the resources and services provided by other agencies or PLHIV networks working in HIV and AIDS.
