AIDS Healthcare Foundation provided free condoms, information on STD prevention and treatment, and free HIV testing at the Long Beach Pride event last weekend.
LOS ANGELES (May 19, 2016) AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), the largest global AIDS organization, was proud to take part in the 2016 Long Beach Pride Festival and Parade May 21st-22nd. AHF offered free 1-minute HIV tests, free condoms, and safer sex information at Booth G-300 on both festival days from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Pride attendees had the opportunity to sign on to AHF’s advocacy initiatives, including its California ballot measure aimed at curbing the exorbitant prices charged by pharmaceutical companies for lifesaving HIV and Hep C drugs. Representatives from AHF Pharmacy were also on site to promote their services.
AHF clients, volunteers, staff and members of Impulse Group also marched with a newly updated Pride bus during the Long Beach Pride Parade on Sunday. The bus is wrapped with a rainbow of smiling faces, representing the diversity within the LGBTQ community. The “One Comm(unity), One Love” slogan communicates the sense of strength and unity among LGBTQ individuals, especially in the face of the HIV/AIDS virus that disproportionately affects their community.
“AHF was proud to show its support for the LGBTQ community in Long Beach last weekend,” said Michael Weinstein, President of AIDS Healthcare Foundation. “AHF has been a longtime advocate for broader access to healthcare and medical treatment for LGBTQ individuals and will continue to stand with our patients in fighting for equal rights and against discrimination.”
