The 2018 homeless count for the City and County of Los Angeles will be released this afternoon 5/31/18

AHF, which launched the Healthy Housing Foundation in October 2017 to address and help house the homeless, and the Coalition to Preserve L.A., will offer comment & criticism on the new homeless count as well as measures the City & County could be taking to better address the crisis.

Last Year’s (2017) Stats on Homelessness in Los Angeles

  • In 2017, the homeless count in Los Angeles County was nearly 58,000 (57,794), a 23% INCREASE from 2016, despite the fact that through rent subsidies, new construction, outreach and support services — Los Angeles got more than 14,000 people permanently off the streets last year.   • In 2017, homelessness also increased sharply in the City of Los Angeles, where the count of just over 34,000 was UP 20% from 2016. (L.A. Times 5/31/17)
