Activists Demand Update of Argentine AIDS Law

In Argentina by AHF

On May 2, over 100 activists from 50 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Argentina delivered a draft of a new national HIV/AIDS law to Senator María de los Angeles Sacnun and National Congressman Lucas Incicco. The activists gathered at the “Forum for the National HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis and STIs” in an effort to reform the current law.

In 2015, AHF Argentina spearheaded a consultation process with NGOs from across the country to update the current law, which fails to reach key populations, guarantee access to testing and treatment, or end discrimination and stigma. The new draft will be formally presented at both Legislative Houses in the following weeks.
