Alexander Goncalvez

Co-Vice President, Public Health Division

Alexander Goncalvez is the Vice President of AHF’s Public Health Division and a member of AHF’s Senior Leadership Team. He has worked in the HIV/STD field since 2001, beginning his career facilitating support groups for gay youth before going on to serve as Director of Prevention Programs for a Latino LGBTQ nonprofit. With a bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Goncalvez has built his career around expanding access to prevention services, improving care delivery, and advancing programs that meet the needs of communities disproportionately affected by HIV and STDs.

Alex joined AIDS Healthcare Foundation in 2010, where he helped develop and deploy HIV testing services on mobile units and launched nighttime testing programs designed to bring HIV and STD testing to unconventional locations and underserved communities. Under his leadership, AHF expanded both mobile and fixed-site testing nationally, growing to a fleet of 21 mobile units across 13 states. In 2016, he was recognized with AHF’s Manager of the Year award for his leadership and contributions to the organization’s public health mission.
In 2018, Mr. Goncalvez led the deployment of an electronic testing platform CHAMP for AHF Uganda, helping improve the quality, consistency, and efficiency of client data collection and service delivery. His work has consistently focused on combining innovation with operational excellence to strengthen public health programs both domestically and internationally.

In 2023, Alex got promoted to Senior Director, where he assumed responsibility for AHF’s Wellness Clinic program within the Public Health Division and led its national expansion. He restructured clinic operations and redesigned patient flow, significantly improving wait times, increasing service capacity, and contributing to high growth in clinic visits. He also helped integrate PrEP services into Wellness and Testing programs, supporting the development of one of the largest PrEP programs in the country. His leadership has helped transform Wellness into a highly successful, high-satisfaction program that continues to expand access to HIV prevention and sexual health services nationwide.
Outside of his professional work, Alex manages a men’s softball team that competes nationally and has won World Series championships.
