AHF brings its potent civil rights and health care advocacy messaging via 22 events in 15 cities across ten states, including floats in major MLK, Jr. Day parades in Los Angeles and Dallas
Group reasserts that ‘AIDS is a Civil Rights Issue’ and ‘Racism is a Public Health Issue’
LOS ANGELES (January 15, 2026) AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) together with its affiliate organizations and affinity group BLACC—the Black Leadership AIDS Crisis Coalition—is spotlighting the groups’ years-long history of civil rights and health care advocacy, messaging and services in events scheduled for Martin Luther King, Jr., Day, formally observed this year on January 19th.
With its ongoing “Stand Against Hate” campaign messaging, AHF, BLACC and related organizations will take part in 22 events and counting in 15 cities across ten states in conjunction with the observation of what would have been Dr. King’s 97th birthday. Events range from participating in MLK Day parades—with floats in Dallas/Ft Worth and Los Angeles, while also taking part in a parade in Ft. Lauderdale—to a MLK Empowerment Summit in Winston-Salem, NC, a Day of Service in Columbia, SC, a citywide MLK Breakfast in Columbus, OH, and small concerts in Cleveland, OH and Ft Lauderdale.
In addition, AHF, which in January 2025, received the MLK, Jr. Social Justice Award, The King Center’s highest recognition for an organization leading work in the social justice arena, is proud to be the sponsor for The King Center’s Beloved Community Global Youth Summit, through BLACC.
“AIDS Healthcare Foundation and BLACC are honored to join Dr. Bernice A. King and The King Center in supporting the next generation in building the Beloved Community,” said Tracy Jones, Southern Bureau Chief for AHF. “It is widely recognized as one of the King Center’s main events of the King holiday celebration, and we are grateful for the privilege to once again sponsor this important community event.”
