Anniversary parties are abundant this month because AHF Vietnam just commemorated 15 years of providing lifesaving HIV/AIDS care and treatment in the country with a blowout bash in the nation’s capital, Hanoi!

More than 100 civil society and government partners joined AHF Vietnam on Feb. 17 to reflect on the past decade-and-a-half of successful partnerships that have driven vital work across the 22 provinces where AHF has a presence.

“Despite difficulties we’ve faced, we’re never giving up on our commitments because we believe in the mission of ‘fight for the living and care for the dying,’” said Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Hang, Country Program Director for AHF Vietnam. “We’re proud to have expanded the program, including linking community health facilities to prisons and providing increased support to our Girls Act members to keep them healthy and in school. We must now look to doing even more impactful work in the future.”

Dao Hong Ngoc, an AHF Vietnam Girls Act Leader, spoke at the ceremony and added, “The Girls Act project and AHF staff allowed me to develop my leadership and teamwork skills, which are very meaningful opportunities for me. I have significantly improved and have the confidence to stand here today. I am very grateful to my AHF companions since being in the program.”

AHF Vietnam currently provides HIV/AIDS care and treatment to nearly 34,000 registered clients throughout 80 treatment sites, 22 prisons, and two detoxification centers.
