With AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) supported clinics in China running short on critical medical supplies as a result of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), AHF has stepped up its previous effort to support partners and clients in the country by delivering personal protective equipment (PPE) to health facilities earlier this month.
After rapid coordination with partners and the government, a total of 18 infectious disease clinics throughout 16 provinces received the much-needed PPE gear which included face masks, thermometers, exam gloves and gowns, along with other items.
“We are glad to get this support of medical materials to our partners in China amid the coronavirus emergency,” said AHF Asia Deputy Bureau Chief Dr. Yugang Bao. “Even though our primary focus is HIV/AIDS, this pandemic threatens us all in many ways. The global public health community must unite together to ensure we’re prepared for the future—right now, it’s clear the world was not ready for a global health crisis of this scale.”
In addition to the delivery of PPE supplies, AHF has also mounted an awareness campaign to get the word out on important details surrounding COVID-19 and how you can stay healthy as governments work to limit transmission around the world.
