In Rwanda by Fiona Ip

Youth danced for improved health in Rwanda during a recent competition sponsored by AHF and its partner that attracted over 2,000 young people in Kigali! The street dance event also included open forum discussions with emphasis on HIV prevention, reducing stigma, HIV care and treatment, fighting drug abuse, and improving sexual and reproductive health.

“AHF is putting more efforts towards youth because they are the future of the country,” said AHF Rwanda Country Program Manger Dr. Brenda Kateera. “This dance competition was very youth-friendly and a perfect avenue for giving young people the information they need to stay healthy. If we want a brighter future, we have to empower them take control of their health—that means knowing their status, utilizing safe sex practices and staying away from drugs that lead to harmful behaviors.”
