AHF Rwanda Celebrates 10 Years of HIV/AIDS Treatment

In Rwanda by AHF

Rwandan officials, patients, community stakeholders and media gathered on March 17 in Kigali to celebrate AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) Rwanda’s 10-year anniversary of delivering lifesaving HIV/AIDS care and treatment in the country.

The significant milestone was commemorated with a special dinner and screening of a documentary highlighting AHF’s progress made in reducing new infections and minimizing mother-to-child HIV transmissions over the preceding decade.

Currently 95 percent of AHF Rwanda’s patients, more than 22,500, are receiving antiretroviral treatment, which is the second highest percentage of all countries in the AHF Africa Bureau.

“Ten years of staying true to our mission and working in close collaboration with the government is a testament of AHF’s commitment in the fight against HIV/AIDS,” said AHF Rwanda Country Program Manager Dr. Brenda Kateera. “Our patients serve as a reminder that we made the right decision ten years ago.”
