According to the latest report from the Florida Department of Health, 5,720 new cases of HIV infection were reported in Florida in 2015, a 22% increase over the previous year. The report estimates that 114,151 Floridians are currently living with HIV/AIDS as of December 2015, with Miami-Dade and Broward counties reporting the highest number of cases.

“Current statistics don’t lie: HIV continues to ravage Florida, and rates of new infection show no signs of slowing,” said Mark Angle, AHF’s Regional Director of Community Relations and Development in Florida, who plans the event each year. “Events like Florida AIDS Walk are still very much needed in our community to remind us that we have a great deal more to do to defeat this disease. I am proud and honored to organize this event for our Florida AIDS Walk participants, who are inspiring in their tireless support of the cause.”

This year’s Walk will take place on Fort Lauderdale Beach and culminate in a live concert from chart-topping hip-hop artist Flo Rida. Famous for his danceable hit singles “Right Round,” “Good Feeling,” and “Club Can’t Handle Me,” among others, Flo Rida will undeniably reward participants and volunteers with a dynamic performance.
