LOS ANGELES (May 7, 2015) — AIDS Healthcare Foundation President Michael Weinstein issued the following statement today on the deadline passing for plaintiffs to seek review of the Ninth Circuit decision on Measure B, the LA County law passed in 2012 that requires condom usage in adult films shot in the county, meaning that the Ninth Circuit’s decision stands. That decision says that government regulation of adult films to protect public health are not per se unconstitutional:

“For years, the porn industry has done everything it can to avoid offering its performers the same workplace protections that other employers are mandated to provide—and has even tried to intimidate those who would call it into question. Now they recognize and understand that simple laws that provide basic public health protections to their workers are constitutional.”
