San Francisco – October 1, 2013 – In preparation for its formal campaign launch this week, Yes on D will debut a music video tonight on the Comedy Central Network highlighting how rising drug prices are hurting all San Franciscans and how Prop D can help turn the tables on Big Pharma.
With unanimous support from the SF Board of Supervisors, the SF Democratic Party, the San Francisco Chronicle, and a broad coalition of health advocacy and neighborhood organizations, Prop D will:
- Grant the city more power to fight back against pharmaceutical companies that charge excessive prices for new medications – primarily those for patients suffering from chronic illnesses like HIV/AIDS, cancer and diabetes.
- Find ways San Francisco can reduce the more than $23 million in taxpayer dollars it spends on medications through the Department of Public Health.
- Shine a light on unfair drug pricing practices, a critical driver of rising healthcare costs not addressed by reforms in the Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”).
The music video will air tonight on the Daily Show (Bay Area Comedy Central – 8:00 pm) and online at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVNtBY-kCts.
The Yes on D campaign will launch this Thursday at 10:45 AM at San Francisco City Hall.
