So, in an effort to educate people and prevent new STD cases, educators with the AIDS Healthcare Foundation are taking a big trip across the country to hand out free condoms and offer free STD testing.

The free condoms are transported in a 70 foot long, 18 wheeler big rig truck.

It’s all a part of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s “Condom Nation” tour.

The tour is 6 months and will cross 25 states.

The goal of the tour is to distribute 10 million free condoms across the country.

In addition to the free condom give-aways, free STD testing is also available in a mobile van.

While the whole idea of a big rig filled with condoms may seem somewhat humorous, the heart of this tour is very serious.

On an annual basis, there are 48,000 newly diagnosed HIV cases and 19 million new STD infections in the U.S.

On Friday, April 13th, the “Condom Nation” tour begins in Jackson on the Jackson State University campus at 10:30 A.M.

The 18 wheeler will then travel to the Opportunity Center at 845 East Amite Street in Jackson at 2:00 P.M. followed by Tougaloo College at 7:00 P.M.

The final stop in Jackson is on Saturday, April 14th at Battlefield Park at 10:00 A.M.
