Scores of AIDS Activists Protest BMS CEO Andreotti at Goldman Sachs Health Care Conference

Up to one hundred AIDS activists arrived at a protest Tuesday, June 15th at 10:00 AM, hosted by AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), targeting New York-based Bristol Myers Squibb Co. (BMS) over the pricing and policies for its key HIV/AIDS drug, Reyataz, one of the most expensive first-line AIDS treatment in the US. The protest took place outside the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Century City just prior to an 11:30 AM presentation by Lamberto Andreotti to investors—his first as BMS’ CEO—at the Goldman Sachs Global Healthcare Conference 2010.

AHF’s Magic Johnson ‘Testing America’ Tour, a six month, 48 state national cross country HIV testing tour, arrives in Newark, New Jersey tomorrow and will offer free HIV testing, along with local partner North Jersey Community Research Initiative d.b.a. North Jersey AIDS Alliance from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM at Boylan Street Recreation Area on South Orange Ave. and from 2:00 pm to 4:00 PM at Springfield Avenue and 20th Street.

AHF Lauds Gilead for AIDS Drug Price Concessions for Nation’s ADAPs

AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) lauded Gilead Sciences, maker of several key AIDS drugs, for its announcement earlier today that it will offer significant pricing and access concessions for the nation’s beleaguered AIDS Drug Assistance Programs (ADAPs), the federally funded, state run programs that supply lifesaving AIDS drugs to low-income Americans in need.
