New HIV/AIDS campaign launched

Kampala, Uganda - August 12, 2009

A new HIV/AIDS campaign dubbed 'Stay Negative and Love Condoms' has been launched by the AIDS Health care Foundation today.

While launching the 5-month campaign, the AHF managing director Benard Okongo said that they will be distributing free condoms countrywide and also offer free HIV testing.

The director of general duties at the Uganda Aids Commission Dr. Kihumuro Apuuli who officiated at the launch of the shs20 million campaign urged people to avoid multiple sexual partners as a way of staying safe.
Research indicates that people with multiple partners are more at risk of acquiring HIV and AIDS.

AHF has also launched the same campaigns in Swaziland, India and South Africa.
Uganda gets over 130,000 HIV new infections annually.
