Love Condom Campaign Starts Tomorrow

The Love Condom Campaign will be officially launched by AMICAALL, Municipal Council of Manzini and partners tomorrow at the millennium park in Manzini.
Municipal AIDS programme Manager Thabile Ginindza made the announcement at the Lamvelase help centre yesterday.
She said the campaign was aimed at promoting consistent and correct condom use among sexually active individuals in Manzini for the prevention of HIV transmission.
She said currently, they had 200, 000 condoms in stock.
“The theme of the campaign is ‘Love yourself, Love your Partner, Protect yourself, Protect your Partner and Use a Love condom.’ Said Ginindza.
She said the campaign would last the whole month of July and would start with a march from the Jubilee Park to the millennium park.
She urged residents of Manzini to participate in the campaign by attending the event and also participate in the voluntary counselling and testing.
Dr. Nondunduzo Dube of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, a non-governmental organisation offering a cutting edge medicine and advocacy towards HIV and AIDS treatment, urged couples to come to the Lamvelase help centre for HIV testing.
He said it was observed that couples were not getting tested yet it was important for married or cohabiting people to test together so they can be counselled.
Dr. Dube said they had prepared surprise gifts for couples who would come for testing.
“For the whole month of July the help centre will be opened on Saturdays and Sunday starting at 9 am till 3 pm on respective days. Studies have indicated that condom use among couples was very low and a lot of them did not know their HIV status,” he said.
He said the LOVE condoms were made in a special way to appeal to the user and assured everyone that they were of good quality.
