AHF’s ‘Condoms in Porn’ Campaign Lands on ABC’s ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live! Show

By: AIDS Healthcare Foundation
Los Angeles, CA - October 26, 2009

Late night television comic Jimmy Kimmel put a national spotlight on AHF’s campaign to require condoms to be used in all porn production when he used a news clip from the recent protest at the Downtown Los Angeles Marriott Hotel as a springboard for jokes in his monologue on the ABC Network’s ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live! show on Friday, October 23rd.

AHF and the Pink Cross Foundation had held a ‘porn in’ and protest at the Marriott earlier in the week to protest the availability of unsafe, condom-less porn to hotel guests via pay-per-view purchase at the chain’s 3,000 hotels. Though Marriott is certainly not alone among hotel chains offering unsafe porn to its guests, AHF and Pink Cross targeted the Mormon-founded Marriott to highlight the hypocrisy of the so-called family focused chain—the Mormon Marriott’s moral masquerade.

Longtime AHF advocate Miki Jackson, who had done the bulk of the research on which hotel chains offered unsafe porn to their guests by staying—and paying-per-view—at a number of hotels from different chains, gave a colorful interview to a local Los Angeles television station the night of the protest. A clip from her interview, including an overview of AHF’s position on condom use in porn, was included in the clip Kimmel used. View the segment here.
