Thai C. Nguyen, MD is a board-certified family physician and an HIV specialist certified by the American Academy of HIV Medicine. He is the medical director of the Westside Healthcare Center in Beverly Hills. Dr. Nguyen received bachelor degrees in biochemistry and sociology from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). He received his medical degree from the UCSD School of Medicine and completed his residency in family practice at UCLA. He completed the AHF HIV Medicine Fellowship under the tutelage of Dr. Charles Farthing, an internationally renowned HIV expert.
Dr. Nguyen has a strong interest in medical education. He is the Associate Director of AHF’s HIV Medicine Fellowship Program and is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at UCLA and USC School of Medicine. He co-directs the AHF’s CME program known as the Los Angeles HIV Intercity Rounds, which is accredited by the Accreditation Council of Continuing Medical Education. He has traveled to Vietnam, Cambodia, Ukraine, and Swaziland to provide HIV education and clinical preceptorship to the local medical providers.
Dr. Nguyen also run an Anal Dysplasia Clinic where patients are screened and treated for high grade anal dysplastic lesions, the putative precursor to anal cancer. His research is focused on identifying effective treatment for high grade anal dysplasia and defining the factors associated with disease relapse. His work has been presented at the annual conference of the Infectious Disease of Society of America. Separate from this, he is also an active member of the AHF clinical trial research team which studies existing and novel antiretroviral medications. He is also skilled at correcting HIV-associated facial lipoatrophy using Sculptra and the dermal filler Radiesse.
Dr. Nguyen is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Infectious Disease Society of America, the American Academy of HIV Medicine, and the HIV Medicine Association.
