Juan Carlos Ricaurte, MD is the Medical Director of the Hollywood Healthcare Center. He is an attending physician for AHF Healthcare Centers throughout Southern California.
Dr. Ricaurte’s areas of interest include participating in research protocols involving new anti-retrovirals. He has been a principal investigator in pilot studies evaluating the safety and efficacy of anti-retrovirals. Other areas of interest include Lung Cancer in HIV-infected patients. Dr. Ricaurte’s work has been published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, Southern Medical Journal, European Journal of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, Journal of AIDS, Clinical Infectious Diseases and the International Journal of STD & AIDS.
Dr. Ricaurte is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. His professional affiliations include the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, American Society of Microbiology, American Academy of HIV Medicine, and the Infectious Diseases Society of America. Dr. Ricaurte has a certification from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates.
Dr. Ricaurte is the recipient of several prestigious awards and honors, including the William J. Grace “Fellow of the Year” award, granted annually by Saint Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center of New York to the most outstanding clinical fellows in all subspecialty sections, and the Andres Bello medal, awarded annually by the Colombian Institute for the support of higher education to the best academic bachelors in the country.
Dr. Ricaurte received his bachelor’s and medical degree from the University of Cartagena in Cartagena, Colombia. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. He received a fellowship in infectious diseases from Saint Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center of New York.
