Gerald Hamwi, MD is a board-certified family practitioner at the San Fernando Valley and Antelope Valley Healthcare Centers. He holds an HIV specialist certification from the American Academy of HIV Medicine.
Dr. Hamwi has extensive experience in HIV/AIDS care and treatment. He began his career in an HIV group practice at Davies Medical Center in San Francisco. He also taught and supervised Family Medicine residents as an Associate Clinical Professor at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). As a consultant to HIV providers, he participated in the National HIV Telephone Consultation Service. Dr. Hamwi also practiced at California Pacific Medical Center and Mills Peninsula Medical Group.
Dr. Hamwi has been honored and awarded by medical groups, including the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association and the Gay and Lesbian Physicians of Chicago. He holds professional memberships at the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Academy of HIV Medicine, and the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association. He has been published in the Journal of the American Medical Association and presented at the Symposium of the American Association of Physicians for Human Rights.
Dr. Hamwi completed his medical degree at the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine and his residency in family practice at San Francisco General Hospital at the UCSF. Dr. Hamwi is fluent in Spanish.
