Richard Nsakanya,

Country Program Manager, Zambia

Richard Nsakanya is the Country Program Manager for AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s Zambia Program. In this role he oversees the clinical activities of all partnership projects, develops patient selection criteria, provides training, technical assistance and clinical mentoring as well as facilitates all acquisitions of equipment and renovations for the program and sourcing for generic mediations.

Previously, Dr. Nsakanya served as Senior Medical Officer at Hilltop Hospital in Lusaka, Zambia, as Locum Doctor at Lusaka Trust Hospital, and as Medical Officer at Katima Mulilo State Hospital in Namibia.

 

Dr. Nsakanya received a Master of Public Health from the University of Zambia in 2008. He completed his residency at Hilltop Hospital in Zambia from December 1998 to December 2003 and was a Senior House Officer completing a rotation in internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics/gynecology, and accident and emergencies at Nkana Wusakili Mine Hospital from October 1995 to September 1998. He completed his internship at the same hospital from October 1994 to October 1995. He received his Bsc Hb and MBChB from the University of Zambia in 1994.

 

Additional training includes two HIV/AIDS management courses, one completed in Namibia in 2004 and another completed in Lusaka, Zambia in 2000. Dr. Nsakanya also attended 2006 – XVI International AIDS Conference held in Toronto, Canada. He is certified in Advanced Trauma Life Support and Sports Medicine and is fluent in English and local Zambian languages Nyanja and Bemba.
