Patricia Campos, MD

Bureau Chief, Latin America

Patricia I. Campos, MD is Latin America Bureau Chief for AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF). An infectious disease physician for more than 20 years, Dr. Campos brings her extensive public health, treatment, programming, prevention and testing knowledge to AHF’s global and domestic programs. As the former director of the HIV/AIDS/STD Program for the State of Jalisco AIDS Prevention Program in Guadalajara, Dr. Campos has considerable expertise in training implementation and is responsible for the overall vision and execution of AHF’s programs in Latin America and the Caribbean.  She also provides leadership for AHF’s extensive advocacy coalition in Mexico bringing forth the issues of drug pricing, human rights and testing.

 

Dr. Campos received her medical degree from School of Medicine, Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Guadalajara, Mexico in 1986. She received a Masters Degree in Public Health from División de Postgrados de la Universidad de Guadalajara in 1993 and completed a Biomedical Research Fellowship at the Centro de Investigación Biomedica de Occidenta, Instituo Mexicano del Seguro Social from 1991-1993.

 

She is a widely published author writing numerous studies, research papers and training materials on HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections. Dr. Campos is also a significant contributor to the International AIDS Conferences including those in Italy, Amsterdam, Germany, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and South Africa. She also served on the Leadership Committee for the International AIDS Conference in Mexico in 2008. Additionally, Dr. Campos provides trainings and is a frequent guest speaker at conferences. Her guidelines and didactic materials have appeared repeatedly in COESIDA JALISCO.
